I placed an online order for curbside pickup due to COVID-19. They took the money from my account, but the status online with Guitar Center is still pending. It's been HOURS, I'm under a time crunch and was not able to assist my client. I feel like I wasted 1300 dollars, and no one can seem to give me a solid answer as to why the status is pending or why the purchase is taking so long. I have had several bad experiences with Guitar Center over the years, but this one takes the cake... 1300 dollars was deducted from my account and I STILL do not have a product. Order from Amazon and don't waste your time...

I visited the store in Seven Corners on May 10,2020, shortly before 1:00 pm. There was a staff member monitoring the front door, and he informed me that I could not enter the store until another customer departed. I acknowledged and waited outside the store. When two customers exited shortly thereafter, I was allowed to enter the store. However, before letting me through, the staff member asked me what type of guitar I was purchasing today, as I had mentioned in our earlier conversation that I wanted to look at some classical guitars. I indicated that I wanted to browse and try a few out. He then said that I would only be allowed to enter the store if I was going to buy a guitar. I then asked what would happen if I could not find any guitar that I liked, and he responded that I would have to order one. At that point, I left. If, in fact, this is the store's policy, I shall never shop at Guitar Center again, including their online website. While I understand the adjustments that must occur due to this national emergency, I cannot condone a store policy that mandates a purchase, even if a suitable product has not been found (nor tested, in the case of a required order). If this is the approach of Guitar Center, I would rather go farther and pay more than enter one of their stores again. I would have accepted a browsing time limit in order to accommodate the limited number of customers allowed in the store. I wrote this review on their website on May 10,2020, to give them an opportunity to respond or clarify, but I have not heard from them as of today, May 13,2020.

Watch Sale Price displays carefully and check your price on checking out

I purchased guitar and banjo strings at the Guitar Center on Arlington Blvd in Fairfax, VA, that had a sales price on the display. After paying for them, I noticed the receipt indicated a much higher price. Upon inquiry, I was told that the sales price had expired. If I had not looked carefully at the receipt, I would never have known and GC would have charged me the non-sales price. Upon asking to see the manager, Ryan,; I was told that the sale was long over and the sales price 'Wasn't happening." His attitude was that it was my fault for not reading the display carefully and GC had no responsibility for not properly managing the sales price display. At best, this practice puts the burden of avoiding a misleading display on the customer. At worst, it is an intentionally deceptive policy that knows it will with some regularity overcharge customers that do not carefully check the sales display and the price charged on their receipts. Plus, if this is the way they train managers to deal with customers in these situations, GC corporate practice and training has much to be desired. Buyer beware! I will not shop there again based on how I was treated in this transaction.

You Guys Are Horrible!

You guys are horrible now! I've been a GC fan and shopper for over 15 years. I actually worked here back in the day. Service was always good. Seems since you guys went Bankrupt, service is now subpar. I've been sent used gear that was advertised as brand new. I was even told by a phone rep, the only way to guarantee I'd receive a new product was to order through him. I guess adding a new product to my online cart doesn't mean anything now! My other gripe is that I had an order that was never shipped, and it's been over a month now, and no one has even got back with me once to tell me the current status. I'm used to companies that'll take care of the customer first, then deal with UPS on the back end. Why am I waiting for a refund to something that you already have proof I've never received! I'm am through with you guys. Every rep I've dealt with has been very nice for the most part, too bad they work for a company with bad policies and no general sense of what good customer service is.

I had a horrible experience with Guitar…

I had a horrible experience with Guitar Center first I purchased some equipment I spoke to a live agent while I did it he said everything was great as far as the card I was using to purchase it, I purchased this way in advance because I had a client that accurate and wanted it to be here I noticed seven days went by and nothing look at my email I didn't get no tracking information I've waited finally call and they told me it was canceled because they needed a third-party verification I use my wife's card with her name on it which I understand but I left all my information my telephone number and email did not receive one email telling me it was canceled I try to reorder but the card that was cancelled didn't have the funds in it yet and they told me it will take up to 7 to 10 business days and there goes my client and the $400 I lost from this headache I would not have the keyboard here on time and the other equipment I will have to wait for their Bank to release my money back into the card what I'm saying they could have called me because they have my number and told me that the name did not match up when I was speaking to a live agent clearly he knows that. Name was not the same name he told me it was perfectly everything went well it would be shipping immediately they should have told me if I had another card to purchases with a card with my name and I would have given them that they delay me where I lost my client I was not able to reschedule I spoke to some rule people on Guitar Center I asked for it the third-party verification and a supervisor they did not want to give to me I have to call over and over till I get an agent that would do this for me finally I got in a good guy by the name of Carter that helped me to complete the order only reason why I'm doing this order it's because I need it immediately and it was the only deal I can get at the time that was good I will no longer use Guitar Center again I will boycott them along with my other guys that work with me and use them as well we have been using Sam Ash also I never had that problem they just didn't have the product I needed for that particular job I work with many people in the industry and promise to spread the word and I will do everything in power to make sure that the idiot by the name of Cody did not want to transfer me over Twitter supervisor or the third-party verification for reasons I don't know why but I was told to call the next day because they were closed I speak to the third-party verification I already had spoke to someone from the third-party verification I just didn't have the card on me to complete the action I do not recommend anyone to deal with this Guitar Center this is an overrated company with lousy workers unprofessional and my next step is to call the Better Business Bureau that's giving them a beautiful name for no reason and I will make sure that. BBB won't stick there anymore horrible experience I'm going on two days if I was able to get my equipment somewhere else so that price I would have cancelled the order myself don't trust these people I don't think they even have supervisors anyone telling them anything and for some reason all these agents sound the same and they may be given the same name out but little do they know I recorded all the conversations I think all I do because I do work for the consumer affairs and I will also be putting in a grievance complaint through the company

PUT THE CUSTOMER FIRST

MY NAME IS DAVID EICKHOLT... ON THE EVENING OF APRIL 17 AT THE GUITAR CENTER IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA, ANOTHER CUSTOMER AND MYSELF WERE MEETING UP AT THE GUITAR CENTER TO CHECK OUT SOME EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES AND TALK ABOUT WORKING ON ONE OF HIS GUITARS FOR HIM BECAUSE I AM A LUTHIER AND A REPAIR TECHNICIAN, I DO A LOT OF MODIFICATIONS THE NORMAL TECHS DON'T DO. I WAS ALREADY IN THE BUILDING WAITING ON MY FRIEND AND CUSTOMER, MR YOUNG. MR YOUNG IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD GUITAR CENTER CUSTOMER, HE HAS SPENT HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS THERE. AS HE ENTERED THE BUILDING, THE MANAGER, TYLER STANSELL ASKED IF HE COULD HELP HIM AND HE SAID THAT HE WAS LOOKING FOR ME AND STANSILL ASKED HIM WHAT FOR, NOT THAT IT WAS ANY OF HIS BUSINESS BUT MR YOUNG TOLD HIM THAT HE WAS GOING TO GET ME TO DO SOME WORK FOR HIM. AT THAT TIME TYLER STANSILL TOLD HIM THAT THEY HAVE A TECH THERE BUT MR YOUNG TOLD HIM THAT BASICALLY I WAS HIS PREFERRED TECH AND TYLER STANSILL, THE MANAGER TOLD HIM THAT HE COULDN'T COME TO THE GUITAR CENTER TO DISCUSS SOMEONE ELSE DOING WORK ON HIS GUITARS. STANSILL THEN APPROACHED ME AND TOLD ME THE SAME THING AND THAT WE NEED TO LEAVE THE BUILDING.

FIRST OF ALL, NO EMPLOYEE OF GUITAR CENTER CAN TELL ANY CUSTOMER WHO THEY CAN OR CANNOT TALK TO ABOUT WHATEVER IT IS THEY WANT TO TALK ABOUT. PEOPLE MEET UP AT THE GUITAR CENTER JUST TO HANG OUT AND TALK ABOUT ALL KINDS OF THINGS BECAUSE THE GUITAR CENTER HAS ALWAYS HAD THE VIBE OF BEING A COOL PLACE TO HANG OUT. WE ARE NOW TOLD THAT WE CAN'T DO THAT I ASSUME AND THAT OUR PRIVATE BUSINESS IS NO LONGER OUR PRIVATE BUSINESS. A GOOD MANAGER WOULD HAVE TOLD THE CUSTOMER THAT HE RESPECTS HIS DECISION AND THAT NO MATTER WHO HE DECIDES TO WORK ON HIS GUITARS, HE HOPES THAT HE GETS WHAT HE IS LOOKING FOR AND THAT HE APPRECIATES HIS BUSINESS ANYWAY, ESPECIALLY KNOWING MR YOUNG AND THE FACT THAT HE IS A REGULAR CUSTOMER. I USE TO WORK AT GUITAR CENTER AND THE CURRENT MANAGER AND DISTRICT MANAGER ARE THE MAIN REASONS I LEFT. THEY LIED TO ME AS AN EMPLOYEE AND DO NOT PUT CUSTOMERS FIRST. A GOOD MANAGER WOULD HAVE ALWAYS PUT THE CUSTOMERS BEST INTEREST FIRST KNOWING THAT IF HE TREATED THE CUSTOMER WELL, HE WOULD ALWAYS BE ABLE TO DEPEND ON HIS BUSINESS, MAYBE NOT FOR TECH WORK, BUT DEFINITELY FOR EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES.
AS FAR AS I KNOW, CORPORATE HIGHER-UPS MAY HAVE TOLD HIM TO TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT, I DON'T KNOW BUT I DEFINITELY KNOW THAT TYLER STANSELL'S ATTITUDE AND DEMEANOR WAS VERY RUDE AND ABRASIVE AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL... NOTHING LIKE HOW A MANAGER SHOULD ACT AND RESPOND. I WOULD HOPE THAT GUITAR CENTER WOULD WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR THE CUSTOMERS NO MATTER WHAT AND ALWAYS PUT THEM FIRST.
I BELIEVE THAT GUITAR CENTER SHOULD VERBALLY AND FORMALLY DISAPPROVE OF MR STANSELLS ACTIONS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE PRACTICES. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE CUSTOMER, MR YOUNG SHOULD GET AN APOLOGY AND GUARANTEED TO NEVER BE TREATED LIKE THAT AGAIN. AS FOR ME, I'VE BEEN TREATED WORSE BY BETTER PEOPLE SO I JUST BRUSH PEOPLE LIKE THAT OFF AND DON'T CARE ABOUT HIS OPINION ABOUT ANYTHING BECAUSE IF HE DID APOLOGIZE, I KNOW IT WOULDN'T BE REAL AND HE WOULD BE DOING IT JUST BECAUSE HE IS TOLD TO SO.
GUITAR CENTER HAS JUST BEEN GRANTED ANOTHER BANKRUPTCY CLAIM SO I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD WANT TO LOSE CUSTOMERS ON PURPOSE. THAT PARTICULAR GUITAR CENTER FIRED THE BEST MANAGER THEY EVER HAD LAST YEAR OVER SOME RIDICULOUS STUFF... DUMB... DUMB... DUMB.

ANYWAY, I WILL POST THIS LETTER ON AS MANY PLATFORMS AS I CAN IN HOPES THAT SOMEONE WITH SOME SENSE AND RESPONSIBILITY WILL ACTUALLY GIVE A DAMN AND DO THE RIGHT THING.

Bought new, got used

Bought a brand new Maschine MK3 and mic that ran over $1k online. What I'd get when I showed up, a used unit. This isn't how you make happy customers; by selling them used equipment for new prices. Beware.

The center in Tyler Texas is the worst the little short fat guy by the name of conor is a cowardly liar.and does not follow store policy. Has no respect for people. He is costing the store a lot of money. Beware they are putting damaged gear back on shelves and selling for new to unsuspecting customers.

Wish I could give less than one star…

Wish I could give less than one star for a review. Ordered a guitar from Guitar Center as a Christmas present on November 28. Was notified the order was confirmed. About five days later, I was emailed that the guitar was on back order until January 2. This was to be a gift for one of our adult children; so, waiting a bit was fine. We planned to work around it. On January 8, I called and was informed the item was on back order again until January 23. We decided to hang in there a bit longer. On February 4, I called and was informed the item was now on back order until Feb 23. Decided to wait one more time. It is Feb 5 and just received an email my order has been cancelled. This is really unacceptable. This was the first time we had purchased from Guitar Center. As you can imagine, it will also be our last.

Made an line order was contacted by a…

Made o line order was contacted by a manager stating one of my guitars wasn't avail and she would cancel order and get me to sales to reorder, I asked if I could just have that item cancelled she said no she had to return whole order and I had to re-order the complete order. I did as she said turns out they only cancelled the one item after I doubled check with manager and sales rep that the 1st order would be cancelled and they confirmed within 3 day fund would credit back to my account. The took all the funds for both orders minus the single item, when I called about it they said oh there is nothing I can do it all shipped out and you can return it to the nearest store. Thanks guitar center for the inconsistency and inconvenience

THEY DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS AND I AM SO DISGUSTED AND FED UP ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY... SMDH

The best service, the lowest price, and exclusive items

GC is the industry giant for music equipment, but they treat their customers with wonderful care. Thier selection of used gear allows one to use ebay less with less hassle.

I like the store, but not the prices on guitar repairs.

I recently bought a Squire bronco bass. Sounds great, and after you adjust the action, it is a band worthy bass. However I also recently got the nut of my guitar fixed. Yikes! $90!. Which is absolutely outrageous. (In my professional belief). The tool kit is $30, and a good quality nut is $10. I get having to pay the bills, but $90, is a bit much.

I bought an amp from them 2 weeks ago. After 5 days of "Processing" I got an email saying that my purchase was cancelled. I called customer service and they told me that they no longer have the item in stock - why the heck would they put it up online if they don't have that item in stock? I checked the site again the next day and the amp is again available for sale. This company is run by a bunch of scam artists!

Guitar center is one of the worse companies for online orders. Their support and response are almost non-existent. My personal experience with them. Avoid at all cost, their main interest is separating you from your money however they can.
